Highlights

A New Look for the Arid Aviary
After months of work, the arid aviary on the Woodlands Track at Healesville Sanctuary has a new look, redeveloped from the ground up.
Inspired by arid Australian landscapes, like the Murray River, the space includes new substrate, trees, plants, birds and a custom-made rock wall and flowing creek. The updated habitat allows birds to bathe, forage and move together in flowing water, supporting their health and wellbeing.

A Dozen Delightful Pygmy-Possums
12 Mountain Pygmy-possums have been born at Healesville Sanctuary as part of a breeding program for the Critically Endangered species.
The joeys were born last October and were carried in the pouch for four weeks before they were old enough to be left in their nest boxes.
While they become fully independent at approximately three months old, only now have zookeepers had their first glimpse of the possums in person during their first vet checks.
