At Werribee Open Range Zoo, we cater for every taste and budget – from adults looking for a delicious bistro meal to fussy kids looking for a snack on-the-go, and everything in between.
Werribee Visitor Information Centre
Werribee Open Range Zoo is home to the Werribee Visitor Information Centre. Open seven days a week the centre is staffed by friendly, professional and trained local people with extensive local knowledge. They can provide reliable information on attractions, activities and events, help you make reservations for accommodation or sightseeing tours, or give up-to-the-minute advice on travel in the area.
One of the best ways to discover region is a journey on the Bay West Trail. This sign posted scenic driving route takes you to some of Victoria's premier attractions from historic sites, to places of natural beauty, wild animals and experience sensational local food and wine.
Wherever you go, drop by a local Visitor Information Centre to help you get the most out of your stay!
The Visitor Information Centre is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm (Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday).

Free guided tours of the walking trails
Werribee Open Range Zoo’s volunteer guides offer free one-hour tours. The guides have undergone an extensive training course with Zoo staff and other experts, covering topics ranging from the history of the Zoo, specific animal information, and grasslands flora and fauna. Guides are available most days, but it is preferable to book, especially for large groups.

Special group menus are available for bus groups coming for lunch, morning tea or afternoon tea. These must be pre-booked and pre-paid through Zoo Events and will be available from the Meerkat Bistro.
Barbeque and picnic facilities
Visitors are welcome to bring picnic food into Werribee Open Range Zoo.
Please note: the barbecue facility is only available when the barbecue area is hired. Barbecues are not available for casual use by visitors. Group picnic sites or barbecue areas can be booked through the bookings office (site fees apply):

Please do not feed the animals. Human food does not form part of a naturally balanced diet for our wildlife.
Zoo Events at Restaurant Associates is the dedicated caterer for Werribee Open Range Zoo.
The Village Trader is a great place to buy quality African and Australian gifts and souvenirs. Stamps are also available. All profits from the shop contribute to the care and upkeep of the Zoo’s animals and plants.Open every day 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Werribee Open Range Zoo has an easy-to-follow pathway system with access for people using wheelchairs and pushers. Wheelchairs are also available from the Village Trader. Hire is free but a $20 fully refundable deposit and photo identification are required.
Note: The Zoo guides can provide a buggy service for up to three people. This service is subject to availability on the day.
