The population of Eastern Lowland or otherwise known as Grauer’s Gorillas has fallen 77% since 1995, with the primary cause due to the illegal mining of coltan, a mineral used in smart phones and other eletronic devices.

A sad farewell to much-loved lion, Tonyi

Elderly Lion Tonyi passed away Thursday, 31 December at Werribee Open Range Zoo. Zoo Veterinarians made the difficult decision to euthanise the aging Lion as a result of his deteriorating health.
