Yakini-Check-up

Yakini receives health check

Gorilla Yakini received his biennial health check yesterday at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

While vets have yet to receive all of the test results, the check up went smoothly and they were very pleased to see that Yakini shows no signs of ill health.

Gorilla Yakini celebrated his 14th birthday today at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

The birthday marks an important milestone for Yakini, who is on the cusp of becoming a full grown silverback.

Werribee Open Range Zoo has welcomed a new baby hippo.

The calf was born in the early hours of Monday morning to proud mum Brindabella and is showing all the signs of being a healthy baby hippo.

Zebra pair the centre of attention

Zebras Atreyu and Shani from Werribee Open Range Zoo have made history as the very first Zebras at Altina Wildlife Park in New South Wales.

The pair arrived at Altina last week and are settling in well to their new home and meeting inquisitive new neighbours, including Giraffe.
