Lion cubs open their eyes

Born in the early hours of Tuesday 20 October to Lioness Nilo, Werribee Open Range Zoo’s three lion cubs are now two weeks old and have opened their eyes.

While this is still a critical time for the young cubs, they are feeding well and seem to be getting bigger every day!

Lion Cubs born at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Werribee Open Range Zoo have welcomed the arrival of three African lion cubs to Lioness Nilo.

Born in the early hours of Tuesday 20 October, this is the first litter for Nilo and father Johari and the first lion birth in Werribee Open Range Zoo’s history.

New Camel Calf at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Werribee Open Range Zoo has welcomed a new arrival, a female Arabian camel named Sahara.

The calf was born on Tuesday 13 October to mum Saffron and staff are pleased with their progress.

Happy Birthday Kulinda

Toddler Weekdays have taken on a whole new meaning at Werribee Open Range Zoo, especially for Cheetah Kulinda who turned 3 on 8 October. Like most ‘toddlers’, Kulinda is very vocal, inquisitive and a fussy eater at times.

New meerkat pups

New Meerkat Pups at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Werribee Open Range Zoo has welcomed some new arrivals to the Meerkat family, with mum Akili giving birth to two Meerkat pups on Thursday 20 August.

At five weeks of age the pups are now becoming more mobile and are starting to emerge from the burrow.

Giraffe Harold Birthday

Happy Birthday Harold!

Giraffe Harold will mark his seventh birthday on 19 September at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

To mark the occasion he enjoyed an early birthday treat with the herd, a bouquet of wattle – a giraffe favourite and an excellent way to mark the start of spring.
