Find your African beat this summer at Werribee Open Range Zoo!

Rhythm of Africa returns with live music, African-inspired food, dancing, drumming and kids’ activities every Saturday evening from 9 January to 27 February.

The evening begins at 4.30pm with special performances for the kids along with face-painting and hair-braiding, before the headline act begins at 5.30pm. Throughout the night kids can make their own music with free drumming workshops led by Shabba Eshun and enjoy special kids’ activities in the African Village.

Safari Tours through the savannah will run until 6pm and the African Pula Trail will remain open until 8pm, allowing you to explore the Zoo in the cool of the evening, spotting Hippos, Cheetah, Wild Dogs and Monkeys. Additionally, you can book an Off Road Safari at the exclusive time of 4pm or 4.30pm each Saturday afternoon during Rhythm of Africa.

There will also be African-inspired food and drinks available for purchase or visitors are welcome to bring their own blankets, hampers and beverages for a relaxed picnic. Please note the Meerkat Bistro will not be serving alcoholic beverages during the evening but visitors who wish to bring their own alcohol may do so.

Rhythm of Africa is an all-weather event and entry is included in the general zoo admission price. Zoo members receive free entry to Rhythm of Africa. Children under 16 receive free entry to Werribee Open Range Zoo on weekends, school holidays and public holidays.
