STEM Years 7-8
Investigate complex conservation challenges and design STEM solutions that make a difference.
This Levels 7-8 Science and Design & Technologies program deepens students’ STEM capability by exploring real-world wildlife conservation challenges through creativity, problem-solving and Design Thinking. Students research a conservation challenge, then return to school to work in teams to design, prototype and test a solution. There’s an opportunity to submit their ideas to zoo staff through Zoos Victoria’s Padlet.
Students will learn
- How animal adaptations inform wildlife conservation technologies
- Interactions between species within an ecosystem and how human impacts can affect them
- Challenges that scientists and zoo keepers face in wildlife conservation
