VCE Business Management

This VCE Business Management program uses Werribee Open Range Zoo as a case study to examine operations management, strategic planning and decision-making within a Government Business Enterprise. Through the lens of Asian Elephant conservation, students investigate how collaboration, developing technologies and operational planning are used to balance efficiency, customer satisfaction, staff needs and animal welfare, while meeting conservation and community responsibilities.

Students will learn

• How operations management supports business objectives in a Government Business Enterprise
• Role of developing technology in planning and creating new zoo spaces
• Strategies that improve efficiency and effectiveness in material use and waste management
• How Corporate Social Responsibility shapes decision-making in a conservation-focused organisation
• How operational planning and collaboration contribute to positive visitor, staff and animal experiences
