Healesville Sanctuary. Located between the kangaroos and Harvest Cafe

Bring your kids to experience an exciting new nature play space at Healesville Sanctuary. Kids’ Nature Play will provide an engaging and interactive space for children to learn while having fun. Located between the kangaroos and Harvest Cafe, parents, grandparents, teachers and families can take a break in their journey, grab a coffee or snack and watch or play alongside their kids while they explore nature.

Inspiration for the nature play theme was sought from local Wurundjeri culture. The space features an eye-catching array of natural materials to create different zones and the twisting path symbolises Mindi, the Giant Snake from the Dreamtime. Giant mounds covered in rocks and logs create the perfect grounding for kids to climb and explore, while the largest mound that features the huge nest of Bunjil the eagle provides an elevated lookout for kids to survey their surrounds. With tunnels, sand play, a dry creek bed and sensory garden, Kid’s Nature Play offers kids of all ages the chance for adventure.

Cool off with Creek Play in summer

Creek Play is the coolest way to have fun at the Sanctuary all summer long.

Badger Creek runs right through the middle of the Sanctuary and during the summer months, the water trickles down around your ankles. It's perfect for cooling down on the cool rocks and creek bed. And sometimes, Keepers bring Chantilly the Lace Monitor for a dip too! There are a number of Creek Play spots located throughout the Sanctuary; just lookout for the signs.

And if Creek Play isn't your style, head to the lawns of the Australian Wildlife Health Centre where misty sprays will help keep you cool.

As with all water play, please make sure children are supervised at all times.
