Day 1 – Rainforest Room, Melbourne Zoo (travel to Cowes, Phillip Island)

Day 2 – Various locations, Phillip Island

Day 3 – Rickett’s Point Marine Sanctuary, Beaumaris

Dive into Victoria’s marine world.

This program is recommended for young people aged 14-18 years. 

Over three hands-on and immersive days, you’ll explore Victoria’s coastline, marine animals and underwater habitats with Zoos Victoria and industry experts. This camp is all about getting out there, trying new things and discovering the ocean in exciting ways. It includes behind-the-scenes experiences at Melbourne Zoo, Phillip Island’s penguins and seals, and snorkelling in a protected marine sanctuary.

You’ll build your skills and confidence and connect with other young people who love the ocean.

This program has a maximum of 30 participants so don't miss out! A minimum of 25 participants is required for the program to go ahead.

  • Join a guided penguin experience and watch the world-famous Penguin Parade at sunset
  • Cruise out to see seals in the wild
  • Stop in at San Remo to watch the daily pelican feeding
  • Snorkel in a protected marine sanctuary and discover Victoria’s underwater world
  • Learn how everyday actions can help protect marine life, including how Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme supports cleaner coastlines

Please note, the zoo prioritises animal welfare and wellbeing, so participants will not be able to touch or hold any animals during this program.

This is an outdoor, all-weather program with coastal fieldwork and snorkelling. Participants will need to bring appropriate clothing and personal items for three active days and two overnight stays.

Important Information 

  • Tickets are non-refundable
  • Parents/guardians are not able to attend. This is a drop-off program
  • Some activities such as break times, will not be under the direct supervision of a staff member at all times
  • Participants are responsible for providing and carrying with them any personal medication
  • First aid will be provided by a qualified Zoos Victoria First Aid Officer
