Situated in the Yarra Valley, excursions at Healesville Sanctuary immerse students in native Australian bushland, celebrating the traditional owners of the land, the Wurundjeri people, and aboriginal culture. Students can learn about our important endangered species breeding programs and meet experts in action as they work to save these species from extinction.
Students will connect with Australian animals and be encouraged to use their imagination through story, movement and nature play and develop an appreciation for wildlife.
Students will discover the natural world through an array of Australian wildlife as they become Aussie Animal Adventurers and connect with animals in natural settings.
Students will discover Australian animals through hands-on activities and nature discovery to learn what makes our animals so special and unique.
Students will investigate real word issues impacting wildlife to help understand why animals are facing extinction and how their own actions can save species in the wild.

Students will look at real-world conservation issues causing animals to face extinction and identify innovative ways to lead others to help fight extinction.
Students will collect firsthand data on adaptations, thermoregulation and ecological relationships and use the data for completing their practical investigation.
Through an onsite analysis of our ‘Wipe for Wildlife’ campaign, explore how human behaviour change theory can be used to positively influence the behaviour of visitors.
Suitable for a wide range of tertiary courses including Zoology, Environmental Science, Animal Husbandry, Conservation Biology and Resource Management.
