Meet Melbourne Zoo’s Critically Endangered Western Lowland Gorillas and the passionate keepers who care for them.

Join your host and expert Primate keeper for an intimate, behind-the-scenes tour of the gorilla dens and private back-of-house viewing areas.

You’ll be introduced to male silverback Otana and our female troop to learn about the complex social order of our primate cousins. Hear stories and learn about daily training and enrichment techniques used by keepers to keep our gorillas healthy and mentally stimulated.

Then head to the VIP viewing platform to watch as the gorillas explore, socialise and enjoy some well-placed treats.

Given the nature of this experience, each will be unique. Our keepers will let the individual animals shine and give them the choice and control on how they participate.

Zoo entry not included. Be sure to also book your entry tickets for the same date as your behind the scenes.

When you purchase a behind the scenes experience, you are directly contributing to Zoos Victoria's work to fight wildlife extinction.
