Fundraise for wildlife

The saying "it takes a village" has never been more accurate than when describing the fight against extinction.

Every day we are inspired by ordinary members of our community doing extraordinary things in the name of wildlife.

From bake sales to writing books and mini entrepreneurs, every fundraising story starts with one individual who wants to brighten the future of wildlife.

Meet Nate and Emma

Emma and Nate are neighbours that both loves animals.

A few years ago they decided to set up a shop together in Nate’s Cubby House called SGEAOZA, pronounced (sa-gee-za), it stands for ‘Saving Giraffes, Elephants and Other Zoo Animals’.

Initially they raised $200 which they donated to Melbourne Zoo, but this was only the beginning of their love for fundraising and advocating on behalf of wildlife.

Emma and Nate have organised a number of fundraising activities, including:

  • Hosting a friends and family dinner where they raised more than $1,000 for Healesville Sanctuary’s Australian Wildlife Health Centre.
  • The pair collected more than 180 mobile phones to recycle as part of Zoos Victoria’s They’re Calling on You campaign.
  • They raised $500 within their school community by doing the Common Cents Challenge (collecting small change from people).
  • The duo convinced their primary school to switch to using bubbles instead of balloons at their school events to support the When Balloons Fly, Seabirds Die campaign.
  • They also spent a bit of time raising awareness of the plight of endangered species within their school, encouraging sustainable practices to protect the environment.
